Perseid Meteor Shower – Peak Viewing Day Three
August 13 @ 12:00 am - 5:30 am
The annual August sky show of falling stars or the Perseid Meteor Shower will be at peak on the early morning of August 13th. Evening viewing will be best later the previous evening.
EarthSky has lots of information on optimum viewing. Grab a nap during the day and find your favourite viewing spot at night for the summer spectacle.
You can expect 50 to 60 meteors an hour, just give your eyes about 20 minutes to adjust to the light. Don’t forget the moon will be out and find a vantage spot in the shadow of the moon.
There are still more nights of viewing opportunities in a waning moon, just fewer sightings.
